

Join us for the 3rd annual Wagging Tails on the Trails 5K and 9K Race at Pepper Park Riverside in Fort Pierce on Hutchinson Island!
February 7, 2026 race starts at 7:30 a.m. This 5K loop is a flat hard packed trail that winds through mangroves and beautiful hammocks along the Indian River Lagoon. NEW this year is a 9K option in support of the K9 unit.

This race is very dog friendly! Feel free to bring your leashed, four-legged running buddy to enjoy the trail with you. All dogs to cross the finish line receive a treat! Water bowls available at the water station and around the expo area. Please clean up after your pets and come prepared with poop bags. Pets must be friendly and non-aggressive to other dogs or people. Dogs must be leashed at ALL times.
We have no shirt/ no medal option available. For this option you will just be participating in the race and will not receive the medal or shirt. You can receive an award if you place.
Puppy Dash for kids 10 and under. A short fast race that will take place around 8:45. Kids will receive a yummy cupcake when they cross the finish line. New this year! Option to purchase a child’s shirt for $10 during the registration of the puppy dash.

Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female finishers in each category for the 5K.
19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-75, 75+
Awards will be given to the top 2 male and female finishers in each category for the 9K in the following increments.
19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
Top K9 finisher receives a special prize.

This trail follows a path through mangrove swamps and beautiful hammocks along the Indian River Lagoon. This is a very popular area for fishing and birdwatching. There are several piers along the way to simply enjoy the surroundings. Easy walk along a wide path of packed sand past mangroves, sea grapes, and palms. Watch the endless number of fiddler crabs skitter by and enjoy a number of pretty water views.
